Why We Love It
Trying to camp with a kid that only eats pizza, peanut butter & jelly, and chicken fingers? It can be a tough stretch packing for a picky eater, but hobo pizza pies are an easy-to-make solution perfect for any campout where you aren’t too concerned with packing light.
What You Need
■ 2 slices of bread
■ Butter or nonstick cooking spray
■ Ready-to-eat pizza sauce
■ Mozzarella cheese
■ Optional pizza toppings: pepperoni, black olives, green peppers, etc.
What You Do
Butter one side of each bread slice. Put one slice, unbuttered side facing up, in the pie iron.
Add sauce, cheese and any topping you like. Top this with the other slice of bread, buttered side up, then close the pie iron and lock it.
Place the pie iron in the coals of the campfire for about 2 minutes then flip. Cook another 2 minutes then continue flipping and checking to see when the bread is toasted to a golden brown.
